He lived for a total of ALMOST three months in the tank, I’m not sure how long they take to be sold. I explained to her how they’re supposed to live for 2-5 years if properly taken care of and she did look sad, but said, “Well, I’ve never been good at keeping aquatic animals. The pet store said he should have lived a bit longer though.” So that’s lovely. She also thought that he was just resting, until I confirmed that nope, he’s dead.

R.I.P. Mr. Steve Betta, you will be missed. You inspired me to get a fish and give it the best damn life possible. I will continue in your memory. When I do get one (I’m still prepping my tank), I’ll post again.

Also, she has four African Dwarf Frogs which I’ve now started cycling a 5 gallon for. It’s technically still a bit small, but I’m adding lots of plants so hopefully they’ll thrive in there.

QUESTION: In the last photo, there’s a bit of dark gravel under him, but there was a separation in his neck. It’s not leaking like the picture makes it look, but it was dark. Why would his body do that? Was it his gills?
