Want to get starting into surf fishing. Bought a Spinfisher VI 4500 that I’m looking to pair with a 9’ surf rod. Is this considered a surf rod?

No that’s like a big river Salmon/ Steelhead rod, really too light for any kind of “surf” fishing short of very small fish close to shore.
Ugly Stiks are cheap and durable but they suck to cast amd have awful sensitivity There isn’t a rod in that store worthy of putting an absolute legend like the Spinfisher on anyway.
