When I caught it I thought it was a nice brown, but now looking back maybe I was wrong, any ideas what this might have been?

That’s a mountain whitefish and looks nothing like a brown trout 🤷♂️. It actually looks a lot like a round whitefish that we have here in the Great Lakes.
