Hey all! I recently purchased a lot of mostly vintage fly reels off an auction for fun. Found this awesome looking reel in the lot!

Says it’s a featherlight No 280.
Anybody know how to go about cleaning this type of reel up?

  1. Boeshield.

It’s just that simple. That’ll leave any finish that might be left, as well as the patina mostly untouched.

Also a new handle, coz that looks more like a sex toy than anything that belongs on that reel.

Once that’s done, a little light grease along the spindle and you should be good.
