Hi all!
I bought a size 8 mouse fly to try on some bass, and it has a strange string between the eye and the hook (circled in red).
What is it for? It’s to avoid it to hook weeds? It’s the first time I see something like that!

Yep, it’s a weed guard.
That’s a weed guard.
That’s the productive mouse fly ever IMO. Morrish mouse is a close second.
FYI be intentional how you keep this in your fly box if you want the weed guard to work. One of mine got folded to the side sadly.
