Colorado – Deckers Brown + (pregnant?) Rainbow

After spending most of the day on the South Platte near Deckers getting a couple of bites from small brown trout and missing them or loosing them during the fight, I caught these two finned friends within 15 minutes of each other in the early evening. The red fin and spots on the brown made it not only the biggest trout I’ve ever caught, but the prettiest too.

    edit: wrong time of year, rainbow is just chonky.

  2. Rainbow are spring spawners. Think March. Eggs in females won’t develop until they approach spawning season.

    Fish can get fat just like other animals, if they have enough food.
