So I inherited my grandfathers house when he passed away and he left me everything. He was an avid collector of reels and rods for over 30 years. I found some of these cleaning out his room. They worth anything? I don’t fish at all so I planned on selling them to people who use them. Any advice is appreciated. Will update post with more things I find.

  1. Those pfleuger medalists are legit. I’ve got one as a family heirloom that I cycle through my creek rod collection. Would love another, would be happy to buy one from you

  2. Those are pretty. Other people on this sub will have value info, but I love that green reel (I can’t tell what it is).

Good luck, and if you think of a price on that green, let me know.

  3. I still have, and use, 2 of these.
Are they better, or as good as, modern machined reels? No.

But do they catch fish? Yes.

    What they say is :
    “Look at me.
    I’m cheap.
    I’m old.
    And I catch fish.”

  4. Jesus, this is going to be my kids one day.

So, there’s a couple MIA models in there and a couple of later Japanese and Chinese ones. None appear to be the most valuable models (round guards and/or no drag).

They all have a certain nostalgic flair, even the Chinese ones.

This is probably the best written resource you can find on them: https://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/oldflies/part287.php

Ebay’s your friend. Go get some.
