So I’m mostly catching Barred surf perch, using the Berkeley Gulp Sandworms on a Carolina rig. Saw these at the local tackle shop near the surf baits, and grabbed a little baggy.
With the amount of baits/rigs/lures, etc. Is it just experimenting and figuring out what works? I’m not the most experienced, yet.

Yes, but on a carolina rig maybe. Or with a jig head.
Yes with a smaller hook
I wouldn’t specifically seek this out to throw it. You’d have better luck with a white or motoroil colored plastic about 3-4″
Thank you guys for the tips, hook sizes, grub types etc. I used to go Surf Fishing with my dad, and all I’ve ever known was Carolina rig and sand worm, so I’m filling in lots of blanks myself.
Grubs work well with the whipping method but that hook is too wide
I dont think they will like the color, but hey they might work
Not sure if it’s just the lighting but it looks like a circle hook?
As of today, I have #2 and #4 baitholder hooks. And some different grub colors.
Put some real meat on there you’ll be more successful
Gottem Baits has something like that in a pattern called flip flops and socks they have other baits too that I like. They also sell hooks that fit them perfect.
