Hi all,

I am moving to Baja California Sur (La Paz) Mexico soon and wanted to optimize my fishing gear for (1) Surf Fishing and (2) Boat (Inshore/Offshore) Fishing. I currently have the below planned setup that I would love to get your opinion on:

Surf Fishing Setup: Fisherman's Life No Excuses 9’4 Surf Travel Rod (https://fishermanslife.net/collections/fishing-rods/products/94-no-excuses-surf-travel-rod-with-tube-medium-heavy-action-3-4oz-to-3oz) with Penn Spinfisher VI 5500 and Daiwa J-Braid 30lb line.

Boat (Inshore/Offshore) Fishing Setup: Ugly Stik BigWater 7ft Medium Power Rod (10-25lb line capacity. ½ -3 oz lure capacity) with Daiwa BG4000 and Power Pro Super 8 Slick 40lb braided line. I also bought the Power Pro 30lb braided line but I'm undecided on whether to use that or the 40lb.

Regarding my Boat Fishing Setup, my goal is for it to be able to handle and reel in most fish out there with the exception of Marlin (I figure if I would need a much more robust setup to target Marlin). That said, with my Daiwa BG 4000's braided line capacity being 30/280 and 40/200 I am torn regarding whether to use the 40lb braid (stronger but less line) or 30lb braid (weaker but more line).

In this case, should my priority be a stronger line or more line?

In general, are the two setups that I mentioned ideal (or at least sufficient) for my purposes? If not, what do you recommend?

Finally, as I still need to add leaders and lures, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
