Just got a mystic m series 5wt and when I did my research on the rod I was under the impression that it had a fighting butt on the 5wt. Got the rod today on Christmas morning from my wife and pulled it out of the tube and it did not have the fighting butt like I expected. It also doesn’t have the two lock rings with prongs like the website says. Did I get an old model? Ordered it from Phil and Brian’s online Stillwater store.

Unless it’s a euro rod, 5 weights do not generally come with fighting butts, across the industry. Sold mystics for 2 years and the only rods that had fighting butts were euro rods or 6wt or up.
May be wrong, but they could be using a picture of their 6wt + model on their site as the general picture.
