I got a job in Alaska and bought a fly rod (moonshine 8 weight with moonshine reel) on the way up. Stopped in Montana on the way there and put my fly line on backwards and kept it that way the entire summer. Practiced my cast in Montana fishing completely blown out streams and dead water with no movement. Went to a stocked pond and wondered why I was the only one with a fly rod and full gear (everyone else there were kids with spinning rods)đđđ. Went to Alaska and fished streams with basically a salmon setup with the tapered fly line backwards wondering why casting was so difficult the entire time. Caught some amazing fish tho lmao and that almost dead spawned out salmon that I definitely caught illegally bc I thought it would be so cool lmao
