So I’m in Alberta and I haven’t ice fished in a while so Im wondering if this hair jig would be a good lure and same for these soft plastics, I’ll also be using the good ole spoons. ( ice fishing for pike by the way )

I personally never used the hair jig for pike but slayed lakers in cold lake with that same size and colour! I dont see why pike wouldnt take it tho ! They’re the least picky fish in my opinion! Good luck and stay safe on the ice ✌️

I use that style of bucktail next to a dead stick. That five of diamonds spoon is good too.

  3. I’ve caught 2 pike on round ball jigheads with 4” chartreuse and orange trailers. I’ve had 8 bites on dead smelt though.

I’d hook one of those shads onto a jig head and see what happens

  4. Use the big hair jig with the plastic on it, jig your ass off or just get some sucker minnows on tip ups.

Pike would bite a brick if you let em so you’ll probably do fine as long as you are on fish.

For pike in the winter…I like a nice big minnow under a spoon or something with a bit of flash and wobble if I’m jigging it. Under a dead stick or a tip up…I like just a plain hook and minnow and a couple split shots to get it down there.

Caught a pike last winter that had a 6″ cheese sausage in its stomach that still had the hook in it. Pike will eat anything but I prefer a live minow on a deadstick if you are allowed.
