Hello. I bought a tank from Goodwill around mid September for 17 dollars and showed it off here. I said I would update if it went well or ended horribly. Luckily for me I have had no issues as of yet and things have been going well. The tank contains:
12 Rummy Nose Tetras, 5 Cardinal Tetras, 3 Panda Cory, and 4 Blue Dream shrimp with babies on the way. The fish all have great color and don't have any signs of disease or sickness. Same for the shrimp.
I went with just sand for the substrate and add root tabs and liquid fertilizer.
The Pothos plant I added a few months ago have been thriving in the tank. New growth is always popping up and the roots seems to be getting very long. Same with the Water Spangle floating on top. It's almost double since I placed it. The only thing I have had issues with is algae growing on some of my plants. I assume it's a light issue, or maybe too many nutrients in the water column.
I have found myself not testing the water as much anymore as time goes and I tend to not change the water, just top off. I dont want to mess with it and like the tank to just kind of do what it likes naturally. That's doesn't mean I dont use my full test kit at all, but when I do, it's all good anyway.
I am content with how things are and thought now would be a good time for an update. If anyone sees anything or has advice, I am more than happy to take it in.
Last thing, I know it's a hex tank and I am just begging for a leak and rest assured if it ever does happen, I'll post an update of that as well. Thank you.
