Apparently a month later where the first photo was taken there was a big bear hanging around the area.. it’s so peaceful fly fishing in northern Montana but you gotta remember what big game lives in the surrounding area!

The usual, elk hair caddis on top or a hares ear nymph on the bottom.

Hear ya about game. In Utah one day I came walking through the bulrush to the river and there was cow moose with her calf in the river 50ft away, never noped out faster just quietly walked backwards and tried somewhere else lol

Size 22 grey RS2 with flash trailed by a 22 bling midge. Maybe a smaller yellow stimulator or foam terrestrial or large adams fly on top. Small bit of weight on the subsurface tippet knot. Looks like 6 or 7x water.
