So i hate line twists… and my flyline has them… I also hate having to cut and tie a knot everytime I want to change flies, specially since I like to switch it up a lot.

Would this would? I'm planning on using it on a 5wt and 7wt setup, both 9 ft rods.

Will also be for bass fishing. So I'm gonna do what people suggested and start using 10 – 12lb leaders that are short, gonna do about 7ft or so. That way I can turn #2 and 1/0 flies easier…

What do you guys think? Too much weight? It's size 14 swivel and smallest snap i could find- says medium on the package

  1. AverageAngling on

The gap on that snap seems too big, I’m never risking that but maybe if you bend it down w pliers a bit?

  2. 7ft is long for a bass leader. I usually run 18” of 20# and another 2’ of 15# depending on what I’m doing. The swivel and snap seem unnecessary to me and will impact the action of the fly in the water. If your fly line has twists something else must be going on. Cheap fly line is often one of the biggest things I see holding new people back. And with practice you can tie a knot in under 30 seconds

  3. Certianly not too much weight compared to a fly with lead eyes. But I don’t really trust those style of quick change snaps. Just use a quality snap swivel with a more secure closure.

  4. I’ve never tried this type of terminal connection but my initial thought is weight and it would be very difficult to turn over and present. Try it and see!

  5. You can use a micro swivel, maybe put it 18” up from your fly.

For the paperclips, don’t bother, just learn one good knot and practice it. It’s a requirement to know knots as a fisherman. It’s also the easiest place to get frustrated however.
