I’m looking at my first driftboat. 16’ clackacraft Eddy 2012 with trailer. I’ve talked the seller down to $5k but wanted to see if anyone would be willing to give me advice based on the photos shared here. In return, if you’re ever fly fishing Northern Michigan I’ll float you down a river. Thanks!

  1. You need to inspect the bottom of the boat. If there are gashes on the chines or bottom where fiberglass is showing I would be leery. If you are willing to put some TLC into repairs then this boat will last you many years. I would also want the floor cleaned so I could inspect so see if there’s any damage on the inside.

Being your first boat you ARE going to hit rocks. You just need to make sure that the boat is sound so you don’t punch a hole on your first few floats.
