Gotcha Plug Hook Swap

I have this gotcha plug but I hate using it because of the treble hooks, is there a good way to swap out to a single hook and what size should I use? I was thinking maybe cut the steel or file the hooks off then replace with a split ring and single hook? Plug is about 4 inches long. Thanks 🙂
