Yellow perch are fish of flats. I typically avoid steep drops offs to fish for them.
Where the bottom levels is usually where Ive targeted them. Depending on the lake and food source and time of year, I either fish the shallower weedy bays earlier in the season. Mid season, I find them in the main lake basin on soft bottom. Late season- back in the shallows as they will stage to spawn, and typically one of the first fish type to spawn.
