I know this probably isn’t the best rod and reel combo but it’s a pretty good price on Sierra currently and I’m not sure how much I will use a 2H rod so don’t really want to spend much on it but also don’t want to buy one that isn’t decent.

I Think you sold yourself. What you’re saying makes sense to me.
That’s what I did years ago with my encounter didn’t wanna spend a lot of money on something. I didn’t know if I would use.
I use my trout spey all summer. Tons of fun on any moderately sized river.
I have a hardy and love the thing. I wish all my 2 handers were as light as it is
You’ll learn when not to bring it, I forced it in a few places that an 11’ rod had no business. It’s never a good time even though I tell myself it will be.
You aren’t the only one. I have been looking at this for a few weeks trying to justify spending the money to myself.
