Hello eveyone I was just going through some pictures of mine from last fall and seen a really nice picture of a trout I had caught on a river not well known for them. Years back a few hundred were stocked down river a couple miles but im unsure if they are now. Is this a stocked fish?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Holdovers offspring so wild
You can’t always tell just by looking.
Freshly stocked trout can sometimes be very obvious. Blunt, worn noses and fins. Many places clip the adipose fin as well.
But fish stocked as fingerlings don’t grow up to look like fresh hatchery fish. They look fairly wild because they’ve lived for a year or two outside the concrete raceways.
That one has clean fins and good form and color, call it wild and you’re likely right.
