You either vertically jig it from a boat or dock- let the lure sink to the bottom then real a few feet off it. Once it’s off the bottom you just lift the rod tip up and then drop it back down letting the lure flutter through the water like a dying fish as it falls. Repeat until a fish bites. This is best for targeting bottom fish.
Or you horizontally jig it- Cast it as far as you possibly can, let it sink a bit and then pull the rod tip back then lower it letting the line go a bit slack. Reel in the slack as you lower the rod tip and repeat. This makes the lure kind of “bounce” through the water. Fluttering down when the lines slack then bolting forward as you pull the tip back. This is a great way to target salmon from shore.

Word of caution, never use your eyelet as a hook set. The barb will damage the interior, cause a groove and will possibly cut your line..( usually when you hook the fish off a lifetime) Better to use a hook set, if your rod has one. If you don’t, you can use a zip tie with a screw hole. Attach just above the reel, use the screw hole for your hook.
