my new betta i picked up from a local shop today 🙂 hoping the clear ends of his fins turn orange like the base! does he look healthy and happy? i have him in a 10 gal with a few nerites and mosses, dwarf hairgrass, anubias, java ferns, cardinal plants, swords, a few vals and moneywort, and i added some red root floaters about a week ago. been cycling my tank for about a month, reading ph ~7, 3dkh, 6gdh, tank at 78F, 10ppm nitrate, 0 ammonia and nitrite. this is my first planted tank so i've been a little nervous to introduce a fish, but i've been able to dose 3ppm ammonia and get to 0 overnight with 0 nitrites & low nitrates, i can see some good microfauna in my soil, and pest snails are reproducing, so fingers crossed!

commenting to add: the water where i live has virtually no KH and very low GH/TDS (TDS reads around 50-75ppm from the tap) so i do have some dried coral in my tank to level out some of the acidity (and softness) so i don’t dip too far below 7ph, especially since i use driftwood and stratum for my plants. lucky to have soft tap water though, i know!
