This is Talos. I checked his bug bites and they were fucking expired. I’m going to assume the same for his frozen food so I have to throw it all out. I’ve been having a lot of guilt with this fish because I got him from a different place to the others and he seems a lot hardier and more resilient (fish from the other place normally got sick out of nowhere constantly) which is great but his tank is working against me 🙁 plants just won’t grow anymore. In the past I had sick fishes and good tanks and now I have a non sick fish with a boring tank. He seems bored when the plants die and just lies there and I try to make up for it by adding some moss balls and leaves instead for enrichment but still I feel bad he doesn’t get plants like my others. The lying there isn’t a sick way, he just seems bored when he gets to the emptier side of his tank. I immediately bought new bug bites and soon will get more frozen food but omg I feel awful. I wish plants would grow again he deserves a jungle. I just bought some java moss for the tank to give it some extra coverage and enrichment, but it’s not as crowded as I’d like the plants to be for a betta. All my other bettas has jungles to live in I feel so bad this guy doesn’t.
What are some plants I can attach to things instead of planting in the substrate? I know one begins with A but I can’t remember its name, or where to buy any 🥲 please help me give Talos the life I want to!
(For bot questions, all parameters tested and in range, he’s in a 5gal, at 28°)

Have you tried column feeder plants rather than rooted? They’re not as lush and leafy but they require a lot less to thrive! You could also try adding co2 if you aren’t already, that will help the plants thrive more
Anubias is a cool plant, different types too, I’m planning on anubias nana or nana bonsai and I’ll be sticking it to a couple bits of spider wood in my tank to try and mimic trees!
I’m sure more experienced people on this sub will have some great ideas too!
