I have a lot of activities planned this summer that will be on or near bodies of water. Fishing would not be the primary activity of these trips, but I think it would be nice to have a rod with me and spend some time fishing while I'm there.
These trips include biking, hiking, and canoe trips where the amount of gear I can carry is limited, so I need something compact.
I have a fairly reasonable budget, maybe around 500$ CAD for both the rod and the reel, I'd like to keep this rod and reuse it every summer for similar purposes.
Generally speaking I'm always drawn to Japanese brands when I have access to them, so I've been looking at Daiwa telescopic and travel rods. All of them seem to have mixed or no reviews.
I saw this one https://tacklebros.ca/products/daiwa-ardito-premium-telescopic-travel-rods and it seems like a good fit, but much more expensive than their other similar options, and I cant find reviews anywhere. The form factor is perfect though.
I would be mostly fishing in calm rivers, nothing big or heavy, likely a bunch of bottom feeders / sea bass and small trout.
Anyone have some suggestions?
