Want to upgrade from my Ozark Trail Angler and get into a sit on top. Budget is $700 or less. What's good out there?
Due to where I live, I'm kinda at the mercy of what Cabela's, Sportsman's warehouse, and Walmart have in stock. Unsure if shipping is feasible. But I'd love to hear recommendations. My main complains with my current kayak is lack of storage space with it being a sit in. Wanting to put a small cooler behind me, would like rod holders, a decent seat, a cup holder, and a place to put my paddle while fishing. Am willing to sacrifice some amenities if need be. Willing to mod it to fit my needs. Whatcha got for me?

I’ve HEARD alot of not good things about the ascend brand as a whole, now what I can say is the experience I have with sundolphin and pelican as I have owned both,

I’ve owned a sundolphin fishing kayak for like 5 years and loved it, only reason I got rid of it is I wanted to upgrade to one that had more of the amenities. The simplicity of a barebones fishing kayak was enjoyable to me, being able to grab it and a pole or two and GO!

I bought a pelican catch mode 110 this year and have been out 5/6 times this year and really love it, Ive gotten into some DIY upgrades as well as preassembled things, nav light pole I made. Milkcrate mod I made. And I bought a Fish finder recently. The only thing I’m having issues with right now is getting the rhythm down for getting in the water. Nbd.

As far as choices go what helped me make decisions were things like pre installed track mounts. Transom mount and little creature comforts like a spot on a handle to clip my pliers to! The pelican catch mode does a lot of great things for what I want. Seems like you have a decent idea of what you’re looking for! Track mounts go a long way, so many possibilities with those.
