I am wanting and thinking about getting a kayak. I know nothing about it. I have researched but I still feel very uneducated. I also don’t know if I’m looking at anything good. I’m 18 so I don’t have a ton of money and just want something I can fish on. I don’t know if I should just save more money and buy a nicer one or a different one. I also want to know if you guys think buying a kayak is worth it. I have added a photo of the kayak I am looking at purchasing.

  1. I think Lifetime will be a fine starter kayak, though I would look for a sit on top rather than a sit in.

I have the lifetime tamerak and think it’s great. Many consider it a great “first kayak”. I agree, although I’ve had mine 7 years now and don’t see a reason to upgrade. You can customize it a lot, lots of YouTube videos about how. Good luck

Yes buying a kayak is worth it, for fishing I definitely recommend sit on top vs sit in. I got a cheap pelican sit in, works fine for catching fish but there’s nowhere to put a decent size cooler or live well if I get anything good.

It’ll work if you can go up in budget I’d recommend the tamarack pro though. It’s the exact same except a nicer seat and gear tracks. If not I see no issues with the one pictured
