Hi, got this little guy from Mayfield lake WA. They have resident cutthroats there and this was super colorful compared the other ones I got. Could this guy be cutthroat?

Rainbow, maxillary (jaw) does not extend beyond the eye. Beautiful fish either way.

That’s funny, I was driving back from long beach today thinking how nice Mayfield lake looked when I drove by. We always end up going to Riffe.

Head says rainbow. A cuttie’s jaw is further out than the eye. Edit: I know because have 4 rainbow trout heads in my freezer right now.
One of the rivers I fish has a bounty on rainbows and hybrids (because they’re overpopulating out native cutthroat). And it’s literally a bounty – you can bring their heads in for the chance to win money if the fish is microchipped. Yay conservation!
