Hey all!

Just got into the surf fishing game after doing mostly island, inshore and sport boats my whole life.

I've been trying out the 110 SP luckycrafts with minimal luck but haven't had the time to really put in the hours to get a surf halibut yet. Usually my method when I'm getting skunked is to downsize and just have some fun. I've done the gulp sandworm on a Carolina rig thing for a while and have caught my PB surf fish (a pretty big spot fin) but other that that have only caught dink BSP. Looking to expand my horizons and bridge the gap a bit between the 110 LC and gulp sandworms. Ive tried keitec swim baits but still getting nibbles and dinks.

I got a couple of these lures for a steal and wanted to try them out in the surf but concerned my gear is too heavy to get any sort of meaningful cast distance on them.

So my question is what are your "light" surf set ups like? I have an 11' fast Scimitar (3/8-3/4oz) with a 3000 kast king with 15 or 20lb jbraid grand (two spools) and a 10' rockaway SP (1/2-3oz) with a diawa bg4000 with 20lb powerpro.

I'll probably give the Scimitar a try but wonder if anyone has any lighter setups they can recommend for chucking little hard baits.

I've had a lot of good luck with similar lures in other places but wanted to give these a shot.

Is this a bad idea? I've tried drop shots (never clicked for me) and my other go to larger swim baits that I use around the docks with meh results especially in the casting department. Casting 1/4oz anything out past the closest break has been a chore so wondering if downsizing my gear will help or if it's just a matter of physics.

I can cast heavier stuff pretty damn far just been struggle on the lighter rigs and light wind.

Would appreciate yalls $0.02!

Thanks!
