I think it’s a mini rainbow, but friend is saying coastal cutthroat due to black spots on tail and shortness of lateral line. Caught in Marin County, CA south of what would be their standard range.
Maxillary and other features look rainbow trout to me

Looks rainbow to me The cuttys have that notable slash on lower jaw even that small. Source: I just caught a cutty yesterday that was maybe 7”.
