Have been car topping my Crescent Primo for months on Yakima Evenkeel saddles as pictured. Crescent recommends that their kayaks be transported upside down, resting on the gunwales. Despite that, I liked the saddles because they made it easier (in my opinion) to slide the kayak on and off solo from the rear.
It's been crazy hot here, as it has been many places in the US, and I had rigged the yak up for a long distance road trip earlier that day. After a morning of packing, we got 15 minutes down the road and I noticed that the saddles were denting into the kayak hull during a stop. I probably could have seen this coming, with how hot it has been, but the yak and I are usually tooling around in the early morning when it's much cooler and I wasn't even thinking about the plastic softening. I'm using Yakima cam straps and they tight but not crazy.
We headed back home, I removed the saddles, covered the round bars with pool noodles, and remounted the yak upside down, per mfg recommendation. A little frustrated with myself for not simply following those guidelines from the jump. Kayak seems like it will be fine, just trying to offer a cautionary tale.
