Tried trolling this jackhammer on a 3 way swivel rig for halibut while pedaling to the long beach breakwall. Ive had good luck with this rig but with a lucky craft 110 sardine style jerkbait.
Why would they chomp the tail? Jackhammer too big? Jig head too small? Trolling speed too fast? It is difficult to keep the Malibu PDL under 4MPH. I get distracted and pedal mostly around 4MPH, thinking I should slow down when I see a hole, fish activity on the fish finder. 2MPH good speed you think?
