I got sick of throwing a 70lb kayak on the roof of my SUV (and having to get on the roof to reach the straps. Thanks to some previous threads on this topic, I went and got the Harbor Freight trailer and built it over the weekend. Also threw on a makeshift rack with some super strut (again, thanks to this forum). I've still got some minor tweaks to make, but it worked GREAT yesterday. Extra room on the side for a new J-rack on the way so I can bring my daughter's kayak too.
Only issue I had was grounding the lights. The instructions say to ground to the frame, but it's all coated so nothing worked. Ran a separate ground wire per a YouTube video I found. Now to practice backing a tiny trailer down a boat ramp. It's squirrelly!

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did the trailer set you back?
