My friend and I have been carp fishing using homemade boilies and #6 carp hooks on a hairline rig. We have a lot of clear bits from fish, the rod tip bends in a way that it definitely not the current, but despite this we almost never get an actual hook into the carp. What are some possible causes of this?
Below is an example of one of our rigs, note this is one my friend tied, mine normally have the boilie much closer to the hook.

Yeah i would suggest tying your hair rig farther down the shank of the hook. Also im not sure what hook your using but the ones I got on Amazon I believe are #6 small circle hooks or at least the point of the hook is pointing back towards the shank. Every hook up I’ve had has been in the corner of the mouth so they work pretty good.
Could the stick/stopper part of it be too large? I don’t have that much experience with these rigs, but most of the ones I see have a smaller stopper. Perhaps the carp are spitting the bait upon feeling it?
I don’t really know if they are circle hooks but they are called “curved barbed hooks”
