sorry this is probably a super common question, i’m hoping to get a rod i can fish for salmon in the Nehalem and Columbia rivers, but i also want to be able to fish for surfperch on the oregon coast, as you can tell my budget is pretty tight but if there’s a far better option for a little more i can do it. I’d probably use 30lb braid and casting 1-4 oz lures for surfperch, i’m just not sure if medium heavy is too much for perch. Thanks,

It will work, make sure to clean it well with freshwater after using it in salt water, if you can save a little more, I’d say go for a Penn battle
