Bought some combo rods-reels recently and noticed some clicking noise with an Ugly Stik GX 2 combo reel. Are handle bearings universal? I'm assuming that as long as they fit the rod and case, that they'd ought to be fine but am not sure. I own better reels but am frugal and would like to make use and maintain my cheap reels – less junk in the wasteland and for others to use/abuse. The reel seems fine other than intense crackling noises when reeling. I'm assuming the cheap reel had some sort of plastic-like bearing ring that had contained some ball or roller elements that had somehow disintegrated due to heat or chemical and that is likely inside the reel. I could probably open the reel, remove what's left of the bearing and replace the bearings but am wondering about the bearing size. The bearing is practically gone so I'm unable to accurately measure it.
