scrolling online for fishing gear worked in my favor, got the reel for 20% off and the rod was on sale -60$ … 6'10 Medium Duckett Jacob Wheeler Sig Series rod paired with a Daiwa Tatula 100 (went higher gear ratio than my current combo, 8.1:1) … so i decided my birthday is this week let's spoil myself since it's on sale anyways, recently fell in love with bait casting and wanted to see what the more higher range was like, i will definetely say the rod makes the combo, this reel is a dream as well but just this rod alone is day and night compared to my first combo, i am an instant fan of Duckett after this purchase and im even more excited to save up and get the St Croix i want, the reel is like fishing in a dream, far casting at the wind with no problems, little adjustments needed even on heavy bait changes, this reel has insane levels of control from the 0-20 brake and all the internal technology it has, letting the lure drop to test the spool tension and seeing the spool anti reverse and do its magic is mind blowing, lets just say this reel blew my mind enough to make me go home and instantly order the Daiwa Tatula CT (7.3:1) , 50$ off and it's going to pair up with the St Croix when i decide to buy one but for the sake of the sale price and how much i love the Tatula i have, it was a no brainer to buy one and sit on it until i get the rod..in short, highly recommend this combo and if you're looking at bait casters, spend the extra money on the rod, if you want to budget, spend less on the reel until you fully get the hang of it and see if you like it or not, budget reels will help you in the long run, budget rods work but spending a little extra is night and day…tight lines everyone 🎣
