Looking at buying these 2 pedal kayaks off marketplace and the dark green one has black tape or something on the bottom. I suspect it might cover a crack, waiting on response from owner. Any ideas what this might be?

Could be a keel guard if it’s all over the bottom not to worry but if it’s just that spot I’d ask some questions.

I have something similar for preventative measures. That area was getting scuffed up so I added a layer of protection. Good question to ask the owner, could be a good sign that he/she takes care of their boats.

It COULD, but it’s more likely to just be a preventative guard as others have posted. It’s a very thick tape that is used to protect the keel
