Relatively new to surf fishing and my first time in FL. I am spending the week in the Jensen Beach area and hoping to do a bunch of fishing. Went and saw the guys at Snook Nook and they set me up with a 7 ft rod for lures on the beach. This was my first Snook about 2 hours after leaving the shop, so I appreciate their help for sure. I brought my 10 ft medium heavy rod with me, but it hasn’t left the condo yet.
I got skunked fishing a little on day 2 and day 3 was rougher surf, wind, and weeds so after a couple of casts, I basically called it a wasted day.
My questions are what do you all do when you get those conditions? I can go to my 10 ft rod and fish bait with lead which should help with the currents and surf, but not weeds? Should I explore the Indian river on windy days (looks like southeast wind the next couple of days)? Stick to certain tides? TIA!
