Just wanted to share this cool find in the Tainai River in Niigata prefecture. This specie seems to be commonly from Hokkaido but I was very happy to find it much more south.
If I’m getting ahead of myself with the ID, happy to be proven wrong or right 🙂
Hands were wet, single barbless hook on my lure.
Drove about 45 minutes in the mountain to a reachable in the river but was rewarded by this big rig in a wild leg of the river.

Single barbless hooks and wet hands is great, but please don’t lip trout as you’ll break their jaw making them unable to eat.
