Kern river, CA. Any help would be appreciated . I don’t think I have ever seen a trout that looks like this before. Is it possible that this is a young trout ?

The kind that isn’t a trout lol I’m unsure what it is but I’m fairly certain this isn’t a trout. Unfamiliar with the species though

Google image search says it’s the elusive northern pikeminnow (Ptychocheilus oregonensis).
Also known as the Columbia River dace, it is a large member of the minnow family native to northwestern North America
