When I picked up this riot mako versa I had no intention of adding a trolling motor or down rigger. But after talking with u/mcjord last year about his setup, I realized I could easily add both.
the one issue with the way I have this setup is that while having the motor side mounted makes it super easy to use, the thrust coming from the side combined with the flat hull, and the drag from the down rigger, means it is super inefficient.
so I thought about using the pedal drive track to mount a dagger board. cue sketchup. some salvaged polycarbonate and kayak daggerboard v1 is ready for testing.
I am hoping it will help significantly with wind drift, stability, motor efficiency.
