Hubby caught 5 carp today (unintentionally) using bottom bouncers including this ugly, stinky guy. We also caught a bunch of catfish, some walleye, and a couple big mouth bass. Location- Gavins Point Dam, Yankton, SD

That is a smallmouth buffalo, native to the US. Not a carp.

That’s a Smallmouth Buffalo, unrelated to the carp (technically) but they exhibit similar behaviors. These are native to the southern US, whereas the common carp is not.
