Im new to fishing and was wondering if this rod could still be used or would I be better off starting off with something new

My kids have “their” fishing gear and my youngest has two rods that are broke in half and I just trimmed it down to the next eyelet and they still catch fish. I personally would not use a broke rod but I take better care of my stuff.

Get a new one. I fixed a broken one and it snapped again the next time I went fishing. Look for combo deals. Just purchased the Abu Garcia 7 ft. one piece and it’s amazing.
