Hiya, I've been a monofilament user for all my life, but I'd like to try a cheap ultralight setup with braid since I'm often fishing in creeks and smaller rivers. I could really use the extra casting distance for smaller jigs.

For the line capacity, it only lists higher strengths of braid. Is it fine to use 6lb or 8lb braid still without causing issues?

I'm gonna pair it with a Shakespeare Micro series rod. Probably the 5ft 2 piece and use a mono leader.

  1. The line capacity estimation is intended to give the user an idea of how much line they can fit on the spool. It’s not intended for any other purpose. Go for it with whatever braid you’d like, just know you may have to use a lot to fill up the spool.

You can you just need double the amount of line needed that it shows or run a bunch of backing behind it to fill up

Maybe if you lay 100 yards of 8-10 lb mono first. Otherwise you’d need a 1000 yard spool.
