Question: My son’s grandpa gave him his old fishing rod. Problem is the handle fell off after using it today. The washer/nut must’ve come loose and fallen off. The rod is useless for now. Is there an easy fix for this? I’m assuming I’d have to bring it in to an actual fishing store that services fishing rods.

The rod will be fine, you can always get a new reel. Unless there’s sentimental value, it will probably be much cheaper to buy a new spincasting reel, or buy a used one. You can often find used ones in thrift stores, garage sales, even for free on community bulletin boards. If there is sentimental value, sometimes the old reels have interchangeable handles. Good luck.
