I actually despise any lure with treble hooks. And because I’m a good fisherman and everything is the gears problem and not MY LACK OF SKILL. Anyways here’s me casting right into a tree.

my dude. yeah it sucks snagging a tree. but just keep practicing
also , if you keep grabbing up near the first guide and working the rod you’re going to break the rod.

Speaking from experience, you’re gonna break your rod high sticking and pulling snags like that.

All freshwater fishing I use single barbless.

Are you trying to break a rod just for a video?

Practice and learning your underwater terrain will help immensely. I lost a lot of crank baits when I started fishing last year, but have become familiar enough with my local lakes and ponds that I can fish based on what I’ve learned about them… as well as time of year (algae and plant growth) etc. and you learn a lot by looking at the water and environment that you can generally fish anywhere just by looking at the surrounding environment and the various cover you can see in the water. My fail safe is either a jig or Texas rig if I really have no idea, but you can learn by feel with them on a new body of water and as you figure out what’s below the surface you can start mixing it up. Have fun and tight lines!
Edit: I fish from shore almost exclusively and unless I catch a tree or some ungodly crevice to hell between rocks, I rarely lose tackle anymore. I even catch a fish now and then. 🤣

Invest in one of those lure knockers.

It happens, the more lures you lose, the more patience you have…but like others said; you’re going to break your rod yanking on it like that. Also, you really want a bad day? Yank and have that lure shoot back at you suddenly, I’ve literally had to duck before. No one wants a face full of treble hooks 😂

I was waiting for the lure to come flying back to you, though the video was of you getting hooked, the way you were cranking on that thing! I agree. Trebles are evil. But effective!

Dude you are going to lose an eye doing this.

You’re lucky you didn’t break your rod yanking on it like that. Whopper plopper’s are cheap. I would have just broken it off. It’s not a big deal.

I can’t believe you didn’t snap your rod jerking it like that. Why would you start snatching on a hook that’s hung up?? You are just going to dig it deeper! Let the current take it off of whatever it’s hung up on before snatching and jerking
