About a month ago the 10" Garmin Chartplotter was stolen from my boat. The person who stole it cut all 4 cables going into the back (power, radar, transducer and kicker autopilot). I mistakenly purchased a 1242xsv as a replacement thinking it was the unit that was stolen, and discovered that my transducer is an 8pin and the port in the back of my new unit is a 12pin. I realize that there is an adapter made for this purpose, but as I am having to splice wires anyway, I was wondering if there as any reason I couldn't splice the 8 matching wires and just cap off the other 4. Had I realized, I wouldn't have cut the plug off of the cord that came with my new unit, but here I am.
