I want to get into fishing and don’t have a lot of money to put into it. I just ran into some fishing gear at an antique store and was wondering if any of it still holds up well. Or as a beginner would it be better to buy more modern gear and new gear over older second hand?

Any help is much appreciated 🫡

The bamboo rod was 20, the reels were about 19 each for reference. The different lures varied.

  2. I just bought a silstar fx 40 for 3 quid at a car boot sale, so 27 pounds seems like a ripoff.

  3. You don’t have money but you’re going to spend the same or double the amount as a brand new rapala lure for an antique one?? If saving money is your goal I wouldn’t buy those

If you want to get into fishing on the cheap side buy a used combo on Facebook marketplace or even a shitty Zebco combo from Walmart. You’ll outgrow it pretty quickly and want something better but it’s a line you can get wet and learn the basics on.
