I want to get into fishing and don’t have a lot of money to put into it. I just ran into some fishing gear at an antique store and was wondering if any of it still holds up well. Or as a beginner would it be better to buy more modern gear and new gear over older second hand?

The bamboo rod was 20, the reels were about 19 each for reference. The different lures varied.
I just bought a silstar fx 40 for 3 quid at a car boot sale, so 27 pounds seems like a ripoff.
You don’t have money but you’re going to spend the same or double the amount as a brand new rapala lure for an antique one?? If saving money is your goal I wouldn’t buy those

If you want to get into fishing on the cheap side buy a used combo on Facebook marketplace or even a shitty Zebco combo from Walmart. You’ll outgrow it pretty quickly and want something better but it’s a line you can get wet and learn the basics on.
