The cornetfish is always swimming around in the area I'm fishing. I see 5-6 of them every morning. They are almost always bigger than 90 cm, some probably over a meter. They sometimes follow my baits but never bite. They also look at my baits when I spot them and cast in their direction, but they don't bite.
I've tried jerkbaits, twitchbaits, swimbaits, poppers, metal jigs, spoons, spinners, lots of different soft plastic baits with jigheads. No difference. I've tried both ultra-light (1-5 grams) and larger (15-30 grams) lures of all kinds.
If I know what type of lure and retrieval works best for them, I can focus on that from now on. I really want to catch this fish. They're big and everywhere. Any advice is appreciated!
