Hi! I just recently purchased a lifetime Yukon angler 138 and I am looking to build a DIY mount for a trolling motor and turn this into a war machine! I've seen some designs in both the rear and side of the vessel. Is the best position in the transom (Red) or off to the side (Blue)? Trying to weigh my options, time, and money for adding a motor. Thanks!

I have a Yukon 116 and am looking to do similar. Curious to hear other’s opinions. There are a few YouTube videos where people have hooked motors to their Yukon.
I have seen some people do it, I guess they are happy. But personally I would not mount propulsion in a lopsided manner. I feel it would be inefficient and not fun to deal with long term. Always stern mount. Unless you are doing spot lock. Then I think that needs to be on the bow.
I put one on your blue dot. Super easy to rig up with pvc, some bolts, and a PT 2×4. I wanted something easily removable and cheap to make in case I couldn’t use it in some circumstances or if it simply wasn’t as nice as I thought then I could re do another way. I mainly use it for propulsion, it’s not great with steering but just bring a paddled with you
Avoid side mounting it as much as possible. It sucks but will get you point A to point B, well, once you get it going straight. 100% worth the effort to put it on the stern.
